Elizabeth Goetz, MD, is a UW Health Kids pediatrician who provides care to hospitalized newborns. She is also a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Goetz directs the care of newborns in the hospital nursery. She supports mothers and families and treats conditions present at birth or during an infant’s early days of life.Often, Dr. Goetz treats common conditions including infections, inherited diseases and blood sugar disorders. She also treats jaundice — yellowed skin and tissues from excess bilirubin, an oxygen-carrying chemical in the blood. To support new mothers, she helps them resolve breastfeeding difficulties to promote healthy bonding and nutrition.Dr. Goetz involves families in their newborn’s care, from education to treatment decisions.
