Tarun Kumar, MD, FACS, is a pediatric surgeon at MercyOne Pediatric Surgery. Before joining MercyOne in 2012, he was a staff surgeon in pediatric surgery at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children Medical Center and St. Mary’s Health Center in St. Louis. He also served as an assistant professor of surgery in the Department of Surgery in the School of Medicine at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children Medical Center. Dr. Kumar earned his medical degree from R.N.T. Medical College in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. He completed an internship at R.N.T. Medical College and a residency in general surgery at Ravindranath Tagore Medical College and Associated Group of Hospitals in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. Dr. Kumar completed pediatric surgery residency training at L.T. Medical College & General Hospital in Sion, Mumbai, India, and he completed his pediatric surgery/pediatric minimally invasive surgery training at LeBonheur Children Medical Center at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Garza-Serna finished his pediatric surgery training in 2014 at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in California (CHLA) affiliated to the University Of Southern California (USC). He is board certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery and board certified in pediatric surgery by the European Board of Pediatric Surgery. He received his medical education from the Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM) Facultad de Medicina in Monterrey, Mexico. He completed residency in general surgery at the Instituto Technológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Mexico, and completed general surgery in the United States at the University of Texas Medical Branch.In addition, Dr. Garza-Serna has served as an instructor of advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery as an International Faculty and Scholar at the University of Arizona (UofA), and as Associate Professor of Pediatric Surgery at the Instituto Technológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) in Mexico.English Espanol.
