Overview

Dr. Gordian U. Ndubizu is working to enhance surgery performed after trauma – accidents, injuries, infections and other unexpected conditions that require immediate attention. He is part of an expansion of services, joining a team of surgeons dedicated to trauma cases. “Having a dedicated trauma acute care surgery team takes pressure off the other specialists and helps us deliver the highest level of care. It’s better for the patients, the medical staff and the hospital,” Dr. Ndubizu says. Dr. Ndubizu is board-certified in both general surgery and surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery. Before joining AtlantiCare, he was a trauma surgeon at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown, Md., where he also served as Interim Medical Director. He earned his medical degree from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, Stratford, N.J. He completed a fellowship in surgical critical care at Christiana Care, Newark, Del. His surgery residency was at Geisinger Northeast, Wilkes-Barre, Pa. He also holds bachelor’s degrees in biology and philosophy from University of Rochester, New York. Dr. Ndubizu was inspired towards a career in healthcare at a young age. His path towards critical care began when his grandfather suffered a stroke. “I was with him. He went from independent one day to a wheelchair and unable to speak the next. That’s when I became interested in helping the sickest people,” he recalls. Fortunately, his grandfather recovered and lived many more years. His passion is undimmed, especially for helping those in serious condition. “At the end of the day, it’s about doing your best, everything you could have done,” he says. Philosophy of Care “In big cities and small rural communities, everyone deserves the best care, regardless of background, economics or how sick they are. As a physician, my obligation is to help make that happen.” Personal Interests Dr. Ndubizu is returning to the Garden State; he grew up in Mercer County. He lives locally with his wife, also a physician, and their two children. He enjoys travel, golf and basketball.

His clinical expertise encompasses Gastrointestinal Perforation, Retroperitoneal Inflammation, Delirium, Gastrostomy, and Ileostomy.
