Clinical Research
Clinical research consists of overseeing clinical studies of patients undergoing new treatments and therapies, and publishing articles in peer reviewed medical journals. Providers who actively participate in clinical research are generally at the forefront of the fields and aware of the most up-to-date advances in treatments for their patients.
Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center
My clinical interests include the minimally invasive management of urinary tract stones, including shock wave lithotripsy, percutaneous, and ureteroscopic stone removal. I completed my training at the University of North Carolina in 1983 and was an American Urological Association Scholar (1983-1985) in the Division of Mineral Metabolism at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas. In 1993, I returned to North Carolina as professor of urological surgery and director of the Duke Comprehensive Kidney Stone Center. Dr. Preminger is highly rated in 19 conditions, according to our data. His top areas of expertise are Kidney Stones, Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), Boils, Lithotripsy, and Ureteroscopy.
Duke Cancer Center
I specialize in the care of patients with urologic cancers – mainly prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer and testicular cancer. A cancer diagnosis is one of the scariest things that can happen to someone. For many of our patients, they don’t necessarily feel different or look different, but they are scared to death. The most important thing you can get from Duke is real understanding of your particular case and what your options are. Knowledge is so reassuring and empowering for patients, especially those recently diagnosed with cancer. When you’re first diagnosed, you have to put your trust in a care team, and that’s hard to do if you don’t already know them. As the largest cancer center in North Carolina, Duke has great reputation and experience, which helps many patients chose Duke for their care. But we grow and develop our trust with patients because of who we are as people and how much expertise and care we bring to each case. Dr. George is highly rated in 17 conditions, according to our data. His top areas of expertise are Prostate Cancer, Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC), Familial Prostate Cancer, Nephrectomy, and Orchiectomy.
