Overview
I was born and raised on the Mississippi River in Winona, Minnesota. I pursued competitive swimming and canoeing but my main sport was cross-country skiing. I remain active in all of these sports today and am honored to be the head team physician for the US Cross-Country Ski Team. My own athletic experiences, including injuries, sparked my strong interest in sports medicine. My non-surgical clinical practice focus is the care of musculoskeletal injuries as well as the non-musculoskeletal aspects of sports medicine, including return to play decisions and injury prevention. As medical director of Women’s Sports Medicine at TRIA, my goals are to help guide your injury recovery back to the sports and activities you love as quickly, yet safely as possible. I have recently co-authored a patellofemoral (kneecap) pain chapter in The Female Athlete book and have published research relating knee pain and hip strength specific to collegiate female athletes. I have over 20 years of experience as a medical volunteer for many events including the Twin Cities Marathon, Hawaii Ironman and local soccer tournaments.
