
Overview
Jaclyn Wessinger, DPM, is a board-certified surgical podiatrist. She cares for a variety of conditions affecting the ankle and feet, including fracture care, diabetic limb salvage, lower extremity trauma and correction of deformities as well as management of diabetic foot conditions and lower extremity wound care. “I enjoy learning from patients and expanding my own knowledge base to better serve the populations I interact with daily,” she says.|Dr. Wessinger earned her medical degree from Temple University School of Podiatry. She followed medical school with a residency at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, where she served as chief resident.|She’s an accomplished writer and researcher, having several works published in various medical journals, as well as recently authoring a chapter in a textbook for incoming podiatric medical students. Her article on physician burnout was featured in a national podiatry publication.|Several family members in the medical field, as well as her grandfather, a Navy veteran, inspired Dr. Wessinger to become a provider — in fact, she’s the first physician in her immediate family. She says she pursued a career in medicine “to have the satisfaction of utilizing the advantages I was given in life to care for others.”|Originally from a small town in South Carolina, Dr. Wessinger fell in love with the small-town feel of the Scranton area. “I enjoy working in the community where I live and bringing a little Southern charm to northeastern Pennsylvania,” she says.|Outside the office, she’s “pet parent to a sassy black cat named Raven.”.
