Overview
I am a fellowship-trained minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgeon and general surgeon. I treat patients who experience digestive issues such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, abdominal pain, and gallstone complications that require surgical interventions. These patients may suffer from GERD, hiatal or paraesophageal hernia, achalasia, EGJ outlet obstruction, biliary colic, cholecystitis, and other conditions. Additionally, I treat patients who have obesity and suffer from associated metabolic syndrome. As part of Duke’s comprehensive weight loss program, I guide patients with obesity through a multimodal, multidisciplinary approach to care and provide surgical care. These operations include sleeve gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, among others. I perform minimally invasive surgery when appropriate to allow patients to recover quickly and return to their normal lives.

A significant portion of my practice involves advanced minimally invasive techniques in thoracic surgery to treat diseases such as lung or esophageal cancer. Another part of my clinical practice is spent taking care of patients with severe lung disease, especially those needing lung transplantation.
