Philosophy of care | My philosophy of care is providing the best possible care to patients having a really bad day. That has always motivated me throughout a bedside nursing career in emergency medicine, trauma resuscitation and flight nursing. | Why I entered medicine | I entered nursing and eventually advanced practice nursing to help people and advocate for my patients when they are unable to do it for themselves. Medicine is a very rewarding career – and a way to give back to humanity like public or military service. | Community involvement | I grew up in a volunteer fire department and continue to support the fire service. My dad has been a fire chief over 40 years and has helped shape my career since I was 16. | Personal interests | Outside of work, I enjoy scuba diving, running and reading books. I’m also avid traveler, visiting 78 countries on six continents so far.
