Jeffrey L. Carter, D.O., is a board-certified family medicine physician specializing in mind-body health for the whole family. He has interests in complex chronic health conditions and mental health, as well as a passion for preventive medicine. Dr. Carter uses an integrated approach to treatment, partnering with patients to help them achieve optimal health and wellness. Dr. Carter earned his medical degree from the Western University of Health Sciences in Los Angeles. He completed his family medicine residency at Ballad Health in Norton, Virginia, earning “Resident of the Year” accolades and being elected chief resident. Before that, Dr. Carter earned a Master of Science in Neuro-immunology from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California. As an active member of our community, he helped provide medical care to underserved rural Virginians during the COVID-19 pandemic. When not caring for patients, Dr. Carter loves the time he spends with his wife and their two dogs, Ellie and Pickles. He is an avid technologist, photographer and music lover. Since moving to Williamsburg, the Carter family has enjoyed exploring all the beauty, history and culture of Coastal Virginia.
