I saw how modern medicine helped maintain his quality of life in the face of a daunting chronic, progressive disease, and I decided I wanted to spend my life helping others like him. | Community involvement | I have a personal interest in causes that support children's literacy, societal concern for nature and the environment, and destigmatizing mental health and addiction issues. | Personal interests | I am an avid outdoorsman with a great deal of experience with hiking and climbing, especially in the Rocky Mountains. I'm also an amateur hobby photographer with an interest in wildlife photography, landscape photography and astrophotography. I love reading and writing and have a strong interest in the classics, poetry and military history. I am a dedicated father and husband, and my family is the joy of my life.".
