Overview
Dr. Ladino has been at Mid Atlantic Neonatology Associates for nearly 10 years and brings many unique perspectives to our team. He's a native Spanish speaker, eager to connect with families and ensure our babies receive the best possible neonatal care. He's also committed to improving neonatal care in the International community. Dr. Ladino chairs the Neonatal Respiratory Care Committee, the NICU Infection Control Committee and the Neonatal Transport Team. Recently, he served on the New Jersey NICU Collaborative to prevent catheter-associated blood stream infections, and led the multidisciplinary effort in our NICU to institute changes in clinical practice that have led to a dramatic reduction in the incidence of nosocomial infections.Beyond his clinical commitments to NICU patient care, Dr. Ladino has cultivated an interest in the study of clinical conditions and variables that are common among neonates. For example, he has participated on projects to evaluate apnea, pulmonary hypertension and lung disease in premature and septic infants; and evaluated the use of nitric oxide and other small molecule drugs for the treatment of these conditions. He was also the site principal investigator on a recent study to optimize surfactant administration in VLBW infants. Dr. Ladino is leading the efforts at Goryeb Children's Hospital to initiate colostrum care in the NICU, a project that has led to a National multi-site collaboration with several other NICUs. Dr. Ladino is also a member of the Institutional Review Board at Atlantic Health System and actively participates in medical student and resident education.
