Philosophy of care | I want to make a positive impact on you as your health care provider, and I believe it all begins with patient education. I want you to leave your visit feeling empowered regarding your health, your care options and overall choices. | Why I entered medicine | I entered medicine for a myriad of reasons. I am intrigued by the variety of ways in which a patient can be helped. In order to learn the depth of medicine, I worked in many different hospital environments prior to my career choice as a physician assistant. Working in a histology/pathology lab allowed me to witness how one patient’s medical concern is transmitted to many specialists in order to determine the best option for a patient and ultimately enhance patient care. Working in the emergency department allowed me to witness remarkable team effort to save patients around the clock. Being a physician assistant has allowed me to positively impact patients’ lives, implement change, inspire self-care and prevent future hardship as a result. I believe that my interpersonal skills including deep concern and empathy as well as my family medicine experience allow me to be a dedicated patient advocate. I have worked with a variety of populations, age groups and cultures thus far in my career. For this opportunity, I am grateful. | Community involvement | I have volunteered my time in a variety of ways including Global Medical Brigades trips to Nicaragua and Honduras, the Farmworker Health Project in Valdosta, Georgia, and the STD Center in Milwaukee, Wisc. | Personal interests | I love theater, Broadway and the arts, as well as symphony and orchestra concerts. I also enjoy international travel and learning about other cultures.
