Dr. Julia Kim is an assistant professor of pediatrics in the Division of Quality and Safety and the associate vice chair of ambulatory quality for the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. Her clinical and research interests focus on pediatric quality improvement and patient safety, and improving preventive health services delivery to children in the primary care setting. Her work with pediatric quality improvement and patient safety spans both outpatient and inpatient settings, including a Lean Six Sigma project on improving home medication reconciliation on hospital admission. Dr. Kim completed her pediatric and chief residency training at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. She completed fellowship training in general academic pediatrics, comparative effectiveness research and preventive medicine at The Johns Hopkins University. She received quality improvement and patient safety training from the Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality, including her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. She served as the Maryland Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ medical director of quality improvement and patient safety from 2014 to 2015 and led a pediatric obesity quality improvement learning collaborative with primary care pediatricians throughout Maryland.

Dr. Julie Hoover-Fong is a Professor of Genetic Medicine and Pediatrics and Director of the Greenberg Center for Skeletal Dysplasias at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. John P. Gearhart is a professor of pediatrics and urology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
