Overview
Certified physician assistant Kara Higgins chose to dedicate her career to addressing the changing and often challenging health needs of women. She does so by counseling her patients through family planning and preconception health, contraception management and evidence-based medical care. In addition to obstetrics and gynecology, she is clinically trained in primary care, pediatrics, pain management and other disciplines.Kara worked as a nursing assistant while pursuing two undergraduate degrees in Human Development and Human Nutrition, Food & Exercise. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg. She earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Radford University at Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Va. Outside of the office, Kara enjoys a very active lifestyle of running, reading, traveling, cooking and entertaining. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Association of Physician Assistants in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Texas Academy of Physician Assistants.
