She completed a seven-year combined BS/MD program at the University of Florida where she earned her medical degree with research honors. She completed her diagnostic radiology residency and breast imaging fellowship at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University (Wash U) School of Medicine in St. Louis. Practicing since 2006 as a board-certified radiologist, Dr. Appleton has special interests in breast cancer screening/diagnosis and image-guided interventional breast procedures/biopsies. Dr. Appleton's career has included a faculty role as associate professor of radiology and chief of breast imaging at Wash U School of Medicine and Siteman Cancer Center.
