Overview
I am a family nurse practitioner and doctor of nursing practice who has practiced with Duke Endocrinology since 2008. I am also an associate clinical professor at the Duke University School of Nursing where I am the lead faculty for the first endocrinology training program for nurse practitioners in the United States. I decided to become a nurse practitioner after a trip to Uganda as a medical missionary. This trip inspired me to help people in a tangible way and led me toward the nursing profession. In the endocrinology clinic, my specialties are diabetes (type 1 and type 2), thyroid disorders, obesity management, and general endocrine. In 2019 I won the Faculty Clinical Practice Excellence award at Duke University School of Nursing and in 2021 I won the Statewide Clinical Excellence Award from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). I am committed to practical, individualized, and compassionate care.
