
Overview
Kenric Maynor, MD, is chair of Inpatient Medicine and director of Hospital Medicine for the Geisinger Medicine Institute. In his current role, Dr. Maynor is responsible for the clinical and operational leadership for hospital medicine, infectious diseases and palliative care across Geisinger. The system’s clinical scope encompasses 10 campuses with approximately 120 physicians, 60 advanced practitioners and more than 165,000 clinical encounters each year. Dr. Maynor holds a bachelor’s degree in biology, a master’s of public health and a medical degree, all from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Yale–New Haven Hospital, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Maynor was a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Medical Center. He is a fellow in the Society of Hospital Medicine. He has been with Geisinger since 2006. Prior to his current leadership role, Dr. Maynor was the director of Hospital Medicine at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (GWV) and developed the hospital medicine program at Geisinger Community Medical Center. In addition to leading clinical operations for Geisinger, Dr. Maynor has also led various quality initiatives. Currently, he is overseeing efforts to improve inpatient flow and communication between providers during transitions of care. He also serves as the system cochair of the Medical Emergency Response Committee and recently completed a 10-year tenure as vice chief of staff at GWV Medical Center. Dr. Maynor’s clinical interests include transitions of care, diagnostic errors and interdisciplinary team communication.
