Dr. Klil R. Babin
Overview
Klil Babin, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon with Atlantic Medical Group (AMG). She has particular interest in robotic-assisted surgery for complex hernia repairs which, in her experience, result in improved postoperative pain and shorter hospital stays while providing durable and effective repair. Additionally, as a general surgeon, Dr. Babin has been trained broadly in the art of surgery to include procedures ranging from elective soft tissue excisions to larger procedures such as bowel surgery in both the elective and emergency settings. She is well-versed in both minimally invasive laparoscopic as well as open techniques, when appropriate, applied to gallbladder removal, appendectomy, inguinal hernias, among others.Dr. Babin is certified in robotic surgery, fundamentals of laparoscopic surgery and endoscopic surgery. She strongly believes in a safety-first approach, where a patient’s successful outcome is the number one priority, while also emphasizing patient comfort, pain management and healing times. She emphatically believes in providing patients with the information they need to make informed medical decisions and stresses the importance of working together with patients to optimize recovery and surgical success.After earning her medical degree at Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, North Chicago, IL, Dr. Babin performed her surgical residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA, where she was named chief resident in general surgery. She was a founding member of the hospital’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Prior to medical school, she spent two years performing dedicated research as part of the Intramural Research Training Award program at the National Institutes of Health.Dr. Babin’s research has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals and she has presented at national medical conferences. She is a member of the Association of Women and a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
