Overview
Philosophy of care | My philosophy is rooted in the belief that every individual deserves access to comprehensive health care that respects their unique backgrounds and circumstances. I view health as a fundamental human right and am committed to dismantling barriers that prevent marginalized communities from receiving appropriate medical attention. By empowering individuals to engage in their health journeys, I promote informed decision-making that reflects your values and needs. | Why I entered medicine | I chose medicine with a profound desire to help others. From an early age, I was inspired by the positive impact compassionate care can have on individuals and communities. Medicine is not just about treating illnesses, but about building relationships, empowering families and fostering a sense of hope. My commitment to making a difference in people’s lives fuels my passion for advocating for health equity and ensuring every patient receives the care they deserve. | Community involvement | I have volunteered at Equilibrium, which provides physical therapy through horseback riding, and Squashsmarts, which offers after-school support for at-risk inner-city youth in Philadelphia. | Personal interests | I spend my free time with my family and two dogs. I enjoy horseback riding, playing tennis and watching movies.

Philosophy of care | In my area we’re dealing with people who are frightened. I’m trying to help patients deal with all of the information they’ve been hearing, and I’m trying to dispel all of the myths. It’s a matter of education and mutual trust. I’m there to do whatever I can do for them, even if it’s just a matter of easing their pain. | Also, I am a member of the thoracic cancer multidisciplinary consultation team. Together we review your diagnostic information and give you a written opinion reflecting the scope of your condition and recommendations for your best course of care. | Why I entered medicine | Medicine was not my first choice. I wanted to be first oboe in the New York Philharmonic. I have a love of biochemistry and science, and I like people. One day, I just decided I wanted to be a doctor. I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world. | Community involvement | I’m part of the National Cancer Institute’s community cancer program. Our goal is to be able to give the same care and treatment to everyone, whether they have health insurance or not. | Personal interests | I still play the oboe and will always have a love of music. I’m an avid cyclist, and I enjoy skiing. Dr. Friedman is highly rated in 30 conditions, according to our data.
