
Overview
Dr. Phillips is a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. He sees patients in the St. Petersburg and Tampa locations of Children's Orthopaedic and Scoliosis Surgery Associates (COSSA), L.L.P. COSSA is the exclusive provider of pediatric orthopaedic services at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. Dr. Phillips is an affiliate assistant professor in the USF Morsani College of Medicine Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Florida Orthopaedic Society, and the Pinellas and Hillsborough County Medical Societies. His recent research includes the characteristics of success and failure in L3 fusions for Lenke 5 curves, and the outcomes of extra-articular drilling for osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) of the talus. Dr. Phillips earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, where he was accepted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, serving as chief resident of orthopaedic surgery during his final year of residency. He completed fellowships in pediatric orthopaedic surgery at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego, and pediatric orthopaedic hand surgery at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas. Dr. Phillips enjoys all aspects of pediatric orthopaedics and has a special interest in pediatric hand conditions. He has additional specialty training in the complex reconstruction of limb deformities using internal lengthening devices and gradual correction with external frames.
