Dr. Loreta M. Matheo
Overview
Dr. Loreta Matheo is a pediatrician and adolescent medicine specialist who is certified in pediatrics and adolescent medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Matheo earned her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and completed her residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. She is the program director for the fellowship in adolescent medicine at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh (CHP) and sits on CHP’s Task Force for Diversity and Inclusion and on the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for Trainees. Dr. Matheo also serves as a board member for the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh. Dr. Matheo’s areas of clinical expertise include working to bring specialized care for adolescents and young adults to community pediatric offices. She runs the Bridges to Transition Clinic, a multidisciplinary unit assisting patients with complex medical needs and their families in the transition to an adult care model while also working on system-level change by heading CHP’s Transition Task Force. As an outgrowth of working with these populations, who often live significant distances from the hospital, Dr. Matheo has been an advocate for telemedicine and sits on CHP’s Task Force for Telehealth.
