Overview
Dr. Manuel Peguero Cruz was born and raised in a small town in the northwest region of the Dominican Republic. His passion for medicine began in childhood after a meaningful experience being treated by a community doctor—a moment that left a lasting impression of both healing and compassion.
He earned his medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, where he actively participated in community health initiatives in his hometown. After graduation, he worked for the Dominican government serving a remote, underserved community near the Haitian border.
Driven by a desire to expand his skills and serve more effectively, Dr. Peguero Cruz moved to New York City, where he obtained both a bachelor's and master's degree in nursing science from Lehman College, becoming a licensed Family Nurse Practitioner. He spent over two years caring for underserved populations in the South Bronx before entering family medicine residency.
Following residency, he chose to stay on as faculty in the very program where he trained, motivated by a deep commitment to give back to the community and support the next generation of family physicians.
Dr. Peguero Cruz is happily married and the proud father of two daughters and one son. He enjoys spending time with his family, fixing things around the house, exploring Japanese manga and anime, learning new languages, and keeping up with technology.
