Overview
Maria Clavell, MD, is a pediatric gastroenterologist. She treats children and adolescents for a variety of GI conditions, including abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, blood in stools, gastric regurgitation, bloating, poor weight gain, weight loss, failure to thrive, elevated liver enzymes and feeding difficulties. Dr. Clavell then completed a residency at Louisiana State University Affiliated Hospitals. She followed that with a fellowship at Tulane University in New Orleans.|“After my Pediatrics rotation I knew I wanted to work with children and adolescents,” she notes. “Gastroenterology is a field with very diverse conditions and gives the opportunity of performing procedures as well as consultations. There are always opportunities for new learning as well as teaching students and residents.”|Several articles written by Dr. Clavell have appeared in national medical publications. She’s also written and published several book chapters. And she’s an accomplished presenter.|Dr. Clavell speaks English and Spanish.|In her spare time, she enjoys travel, reading, cooking and shopping.
