Overview
It is an honor for me to serve patients and families who are coping with brain and spinal cord tumors. I believe strongly in the person-to-person relationships with my clinical team, my patients, and their loved ones. I enjoy cycling and other outdoor activities, cooking, music of all sorts, and living in Durham. I am married to a Durham native and we are proud parents of a daughter who was born at Duke and graduated from Duke University.

Duke Gastroenterology Clinic - Clinic 2J
I am a physician assistant in the division of gastroenterology. I treat many types of liver problems, including autoimmune hepatitis, genetic conditions, and viral hepatitis. I also treat downstream problems of ascites, which cause abdominal swelling, or encephalopathy, which can affect your brain. My favorite part is being able to walk with people on their journey toward health and wellness. When you come to see me, you see a team practice. I work together with Dr. Andrew Muir and have since 2001. I hope you know that when you see me, you are seeing him because we are a team. We see patients jointly and collaboratively, and you have access to so many resources, including nutritionists, physical therapists, and referrals we can make within Duke.
