Dr. Matthew S. Bishop
Overview
Matt is an expert level certified Nurse Practitioner who earned his BSN at Duquesne University and his Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner at Clarion University in 2011. After graduation he spent a short time working for an outside group in Oncology before taking a job at Tri Rivers Musculoskeletal where he has been for the last eight years. He primarily works with Dr. Scott Rainey an orthopedic spine surgeon, both as first assist in the operating room and seeing new patient hours in office. Matt completed a research project last year that was selected to be presented at the North American Spine Summit meeting in Chicago. He is hoping the project will be published this year. He has also done some legal consulting work and keeps busy outside of work as the president of his local school board. He enjoys precepting students and part of his expert project is that he developed a formal program for precepting students at the various Tri Rivers sites. The program focuses on evaluating base knowledge of orthopedic related subjects prior to precepting and then evaluates the APP student progress after completing the program. The goal is to evaluate the students and the entire precepting experience looking for continued improvement.
