Megan Athey is a nurse practitioner. She first joined Inova in 2019 as a labor and delivery registered nurse and rejoined in 2025 as a women’s health nurse practitioner. She has been practicing as a nurse practitioner since 2023. Prior to rejoining Inova, Megan was a registered nurse at the Mother and Infant Care Center at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Virginia. Megan worked as a registered nurse for eight years across a range of units before obtaining her master’s degree in nursing as a women’s health nurse practitioner. She spent the last four years as a labor and delivery and postpartum registered nurse. Since volunteering as a doula in high school, Megan knew she wanted to work in women’s health. Prenatal care remains a passion for her. While she does not attend deliveries, she enjoys drawing on her experience in labor and delivery to support and educate her patients. She is also deeply committed to women’s health throughout the age spectrum and loves working with women on their health goals – prioritizing open communication, empathy, education and empowerment. In her free time, Megan enjoys hanging out with her husband and two cats. Since moving to DC six years ago, she has loved exploring the area – especially anything outdoors or water-related.
