Dr. Melissa Allen

So much of life’s experiences and enjoyment comes from movement, and I have made it my mission to help children live their best lives through improved physical function. I enjoy getting to know both the patient and their guardians and believe shared decision making is the best way to optimize outcomes. This entails taking the whole child, family situation, and goals into consideration and coming up with a strategy together that makes the most sense. I have specialized interest and experience treating developmental hip dysplasia and a variety of leg deformities including those that are crooked, twisted, or too short. With these conditions, we are beginning with a structure that isn’t normal and working to make it better than it could have been without intervention. Even thinking about having surgery can be nerve wracking for children and their families alike, but my team and I will be with you every step of the way.

Her clinical expertise encompasses Accessory Navicular Bone, Congenital Radioulnar Synostosis, Sprengel Deformity, Beukes Familial Hip Dysplasia, and Osteotomy.

Dr. Allen is board certified in American Board Of Orthopaedic Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery. She is actively involved in clinical research, co-authoring 7 peer reviewed articles.
