Overview
\I first became interested in health care in elementary school. I enjoyed learning about how things worked in science class and decided that understanding how the human body worked would be the most fascinating experience. In medical school, we had the opportunity to ride on the “blue goose,""\"" a school bus converted into a mobile clinic and painted blue. This mobile clinic served impoverished rural areas in West Virginia and was sometimes the only primary care to which children in this area had access. This experience led me to a career in pediatrics. I continue to advocate for children from all backgrounds. I enjoy seeing patients of all ages, from newborns to young adults, and navigating all of the twists and turns of childhood with them. As a pediatrician, I most enjoy when parents tell me that the patient looks forward to their visit with me. I think that putting the patient and parents at ease when they enter the health care system and making it a less scary (and sometimes even fun) experience is one of the most rewarding aspects of my career. When I am not at work.
