Board certified in surgery and thoracic surgery, Dr. Estrera’s clinical interests include cardiac surgery, valvular heart disease, aortic aneurysms and aortic dissection. He has practiced in Houston since 1994, treating patients 18 and older. Dr. Estrera is professor and chief of cardiac surgery in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth and medical director of Cardiovascular ICU and Cardiovascular IMU at Memorial Hermann Heart & Vascular Institute. He has received numerous professional recognitions and has authored or co-authored 26 book chapters and more than 100 articles in medical journals. Dr. Estrera’s practice philosophy reflects patient-centered care ensuring that “the patient always comes first.” He believes in good communications and provides individualized, personalized patient care. He has published more than 400 original articles in medical journals and authored numerous book chapters. Dr. Gregoric is on the faculty of McGovern School of Medicine and serves as chief of the surgical division of the Center for Advanced Cardiopulmonary Therapies and Transplantations.
