Dr. Nihar Shah is a specialty care physician board certified in pulmonary disease, critical care medicine and internal medicine. He joined Inova in 2024 and has been practicing since 2017. Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Shah was a fellow in the interventional pulmonology fellowship program at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, VA. Dr. Shah’s expertise lies in managing complex respiratory conditions including malignant airway diseases, complications following lung transplantation and advanced bronchoscopy procedures. Dr. Shah is dedicated to advancing patient care through programs focused on the screening and early diagnosis of pulmonary nodules, as well as the management of benign and malignant airway obstructions. He is proficient in a range of specialized procedures such as rigid bronchoscopy, stent placement, airway thermal therapy, endobronchial ultrasound bronchoscopy (EBUS), robotic bronchoscopy, navigational bronchoscopy, tunneled pleural catheter placement and endobronchial valve placement, ensuring comprehensive care for his patients. An active member of the medical community, Dr. Shah collaborates with various professional societies in the field of interventional pulmonology. Originally from India, Dr. Shah now resides in Arlington, VA. In his free time, he enjoys running, hiking, traveling and leading a balanced life outside of his professional commitments.
