Nina Menda, MD, is a UW Health Kids neonatologist and an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.Dr. Menda cares for babies born prematurely (early) or who have complex medical needs such as respiratory stress syndrome, infections or congenital differences diagnosed during pregnancy. She works in the delivery room, providing resuscitation and breathing assistance to newborns, and in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).Dr. Menda enjoys coordinating the care of babies across all different subspecialties and services and serving as the baby’s primary care physician. She finds it rewarding to care for babies born early or with health issues and then see them grow and develop, eventually going home with their families. She believes neonatal care needs to be family centered and patient focused to be most effective.Dr. Menda has a special interest in improving outcomes for babies and families. She conducts research to find areas of strength and areas that need improvement across the NICU team, then uses that data to make changes.Outside of work, Dr. Menda enjoys exploring new cultures and foods through travel, reading and running.Babies are so inspiring. Their ability to grow and heal despite the largest obstacles is truly remarkable.
