Overview
Orquidia Torres, MD, MS, is director of Medical Student and Resident Education in the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She is also an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She is board certified with the American Board of Pediatrics in pediatrics and adolescent medicine.Dr. Torres received her medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center and her master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She completed a residency at Stony Brook School of Medicine followed by a fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.Her clinical expertise includes menstrual disorders, long-acting reversible contraception, contraception for medically complex patients, mental health, and eating disorders. She also brings expertise in media advocacy and quality improvement.Dr. Torres also works closely with the trainees on the adolescent medicine rotation to oversee their teaching and evaluation. She incorporates weekly didactic and case-based learning for the trainees to reinforce core adolescent medicine knowledge.She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine, and the North American Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology.View the full list of Dr. Torres’s publications on PubMed.
