Overview
Parth N. Desai, M.D., is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon who provides comprehensive spine care to patients at our Rockdale location. Dr. Desai specializes in the full spectrum of spinal conditions involving the neck and back, including herniated discs, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, spinal instability, adult and pediatric spinal deformity, and trauma. Dr. Desai has expertise in minimally invasive spine surgery and has a particular interest in revision spine surgery and in the treatment of failed neck and back surgery.Dr. Desai offers both traditional and minimally invasive surgical options tailored to each patient's unique condition. He performs a wide range of procedures including anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), cervical disc replacement, cervical laminoplasty, lumbar microdiscectomy and laminectomy, as well as anterior, lateral, and posterior spinal fusions. He utilizes cutting-edge technologies such as spinal navigation and augmented reality to enhance surgical precision and improve patient outcomes. Dr. Desai also performs orthopedic trauma surgery and general orthopedic surgery.A native of Georgia, Dr. Desai earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Georgia, followed by his Doctor of Medicine from Mercer University School of Medicine, where he also completed a dedicated research year in orthopedic technology. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, LA, and went on to pursue advanced fellowship training in Spine Surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL.Throughout his career, Dr. Desai has been recognized for both academic and clinical excellence, including induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AΩA) Honor Medical Society, receipt of the James T. McAfee Jr. Vision and Leadership Scholarship, and a Physicians Foundation Grant Recipient for his contributions to improving healthcare access in underserved communities.Outside of medicine, Dr. Desai is passionate about service, mentorship, and innovation. He has a particular interest in developing innovative healthcare technologies with the use of AI. He also enjoys medical mission work and has participated in international medical missions to India, Nepal, and to perform spine surgery in Laos.
