Overview
Adolescent gynecology Dr. Welsh was born and raised cheering on the Mayo Spartans in Rochester, Minnesota. She graduated from the University Of Minnesota School of Medicine and completed her residency at The Ohio State University Hospitals. In her undergrad, she intended on completing a major in French. However, after working at the Stanford Contraceptive Center, Dr. Welsh became interested in Women’s Health. She then completed her Human Biology coursework and decided to go into medicine. Before coming to Park Nicollet, she practiced in a private practice. She chose to come to Park Nicollet because of the team mentality Park Nicollet has. “I enjoy working within the team of professionals in all fields at Park Nicollet, but especially in the Ob/Gyn Department.” For example, there are always 2 MD’s at the hospital to assist patients and to handle any emergencies, which she believes lead to the best possible patient care. Dr. Welsh enjoys seeing her diverse practice of patients and has a special interest in adolescent gynecology, teen pregnancy prevention, and educating women in the developing world. Dr. Welsh has worked closely with teen pregnancy prevention and has completed research on the topic. In 2010 she completed a medical mission trip to HEAL Africa in Eastern Congo. She did complete another mission trip to France as a teenager. Dr. Welsh volunteers at her husband’s school teaching sex education and pregnancy prevention. She also volunteers at her children’s school. Dr. Welsh enjoys biking and walking around a nearby lake with her kids and husband.
