Dr. Priti D. Bhansali

Priti Bhansali, MD, is an affiliate faculty member of the Child Health Advocacy Institute (CHAI), a pediatric hospitalist, the associate program director for the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship and director of the Children's Academy of Pediatric Educators. Her areas of interest include health literacy and other social determinants of health, as well as injury prevention. Dr. Bhansali is interested in implementing practices to address health literacy to promote safe transitions for patients at the time of hospital discharge. Dr. Bhansali has served as the primary mentor for a REACH project on Screening for Social Determinants of Health in the Inpatient Setting, published earlier this year. It is one of her long-term goals to partner with other stakeholders at Children’s National to advance screening and referrals for social determinants of health in the hospital setting. In addition, Dr. Bhansali has co-facilitated national workshops and collaborated on research pertaining to firearms injury prevention. She enjoys learning from the multidisciplinary team at CHAI and hopes to serve as a liaison between CHAI and faculty development initiatives at Children's National. Dr. Bhansali completed her undergraduate training at the University of Pennsylvania and medical school at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. She earned her master's in education from George Washington University. Dr. Bhansali completed her pediatric residency and chief residency at the University of Connecticut and began her career in pediatric hospital medicine at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center from 2006-2009, where she was also the associate residency program director. She lives in Annapolis with her husband and two children, and enjoys running, indoor rock climbing, playing soccer and tennis, and listening to stand-up comedy.

Dr. Bhansali is board certified in Pediatrics: American Board Of Pediatrics, 2005 and Pediatric Hospital Medicine: American Board Of Pediatrics, 2019. She is actively involved in clinical research, co-authoring 44 peer reviewed articles.
