He completed his urology residency training at the University of California San Francisco and pediatric urology fellowship training at Texas Children’s Hospital. As a pediatric urology fellow, Dr. Hsieh began studying how the commensal microbiome (the collection of naturally occurring, non-pathogenic bacteria in and on our bodies) may prevent urinary tract infections. Following fellowship training, he was an Assistant Professor at Stanford University, where he founded an NIH-funded research group focused on bladder inflammation, urinary tract infections and bladder cancer. Leslie Castelo-Soccio, MD, PhD, is a dermatologist at Children's National Hospital and professor of Pediatrics and Dermatology at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
