Dr. Rodrigo Donalisio da Silva received his medical degree from the University of Mogi das Cruzes in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where he also completed his internship. He underwent his residency at Hospital do Servidor Public Muncipal in Sao Paulo before completing a fellowship in endourology and minimally invasive surgery at Denver Health Medical Center/University of Colorado, where he received the 2018 Faculty Teaching Award. He also served as interim Chief of Urology for more than two years before joining the Division of Urology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Dr. Donalisio has been practicing medicine since 2005 and treats patients 18 years and older. He also speaks Portuguese and Spanish. His clinical interests include benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), kidney and urinary stones, minimally invasive surgery and vasectomy. He specializes in minimally invasive surgery for complex kidney stones and for minimally invasive treatment for BPH. He is one of the few in the country to perform Holep, a minimally invasive laser procedure for BPH and other minimally invasive procedures that help to minimize incontinence or sexual dysfunction. He also performs minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of complex urinary stones, including miniaturized percutaneous nephrolithotomy, ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy and shockwave lithotripsy. Dr. Donalisio combines a robust clinical practice with extensive research projects to improve patient care and clinical outcomes. His patients appreciate his medical knowledge and surgical skills in combination with comprehensive care and good communication. He develops individualized and personalized treatment plans based on each patient’s needs. Dr. Donalisio serves as director of endourology and the kidney stone program at UTHealth Houston and works to share his knowledge by training future urologists and medical students. Throughout his career he has received numerous awards and recognitions, including 2022 American Urological Association Leadership Class, Denver's Top Doctor Award for Urology and Top Doctor Award for Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. A resident of Missouri City, Dr. Donalisio is married and has two children. He enjoys spending time with his family and cycling, competing in triathlons, camping, hiking and outdoor activities.
