Overview
I decided I wanted a career in medicine when I was in college at the University of Georgia. I loved studying history and literature, but I also enjoyed volunteering in clinics and hospitals. I thought those two interests could go hand-in-hand by developing relationships with my patients and by learning their stories. My wife and I got married after we graduated, and we moved to Atlanta for medical school. While there, we were devoted members of our church, and we loved hiking, exercising, cooking, and playing with our dog. At the end of medical school, our family grew when our son was born. We’re thrilled to be in Durham now, where there is great food, hiking, and far less traffic than in Atlanta.
