Dr. Scott O. Paschal

Scott O. Paschal, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and a leading authority in sports medicine and arthroscopic reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder. Among the nation’s most experienced surgeons, Dr. Paschal is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to each and every patient. Dr. Paschal graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, with a Bachelor of Science degree and earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, where he graduated in the top 2% of his class. He finished an internship in general surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital before he completed his five year residency training program in orthopaedic surgery at the prestigious University of Texas Southwestern Medical School Affiliated Hospitals in Dallas. He was then awarded a fellowship in knee surgery and sports medicine at Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe, California before completing his subspecialty training in shoulder surgery at St. Joseph Hospital in London, Ontario. Outside of his work with Texas Orthopaedic Associates, Dr. Paschal is currently a team physician for Highland Park High School and Dallas Independent School District schools. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and is the director of the DFW Athletic Trainers Lecture Series. He has also served as a team physician for the United States Alpine Olympic Ski Team and as the physician director for the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification. Upon his election as an honorary member of the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association, the committee stated, “His dedication to athletes elevates him above his peers.” He has authored several scientific articles, lectured nationally, and received teaching awards. Dr. Paschal has been recognized for his work by a number of prestigious institutions. He is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, the TriBeta Biological Honor Society, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He’s also been honored by his peers numerous times on D Magazine’s list of Best Doctors as well as Texas Monthly’s list of Top Doctors. Dr. Paschal has been an athlete his entire life, notably playing varsity baseball at Texas A&M University, which nurtures an empathetic connection with injured athletes. Outside of his practice, Dr. Paschal enjoys golf, tennis, hiking, outdoors, photography, and spending time with his family.
