Overview
I originally moved to Michigan just before middle school and graduated from Pellston High School, a rural city in Northern Lower Michigan. I graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1986 and then spent 2 years studying Biochemistry at George Washington University in Washington, DC. I joined the U.S. Navy in conjunction with medical school and then spent 8 ½ years as a general pediatrician. While still in the Navy, I trained in Pediatric Cardiology and served as a staff Pediatric Cardiologist for another 8 ½ years at the San Diego Naval Hospital. Highlights of my Navy career also included a tour of duty overseas (Okinawa, Japan) and I was also attached as a medical officer taking care of active duty sailors while assigned to the U.S.S. Bonhomme Richard out of San Diego. I retired from the military after 20+ years of service and spent several years practicing at Wake Forest University. I am grateful to have the opportunity to work for University of Michigan and come back home. I look forward to serving the Lansing community and hope to also reach out to other outlying areas remote from Ann Arbor. I am married and have 5 daughters and 6 grandchildren (so far). My wife has formal culinary training and hopes to start a bed and breakfast in Michigan at some point.
