Overview
Stephanie Calabrese is a nurse practitioner who cares for patients with cancers of the chest, including lung and esophageal cancer. She supports, educates and advocates for her patients as they go through surgery and other parts of treatment. She works closely with specialists in several UCSF cancer clinics to ensure each patient receives comprehensive care. Previously, she was a member of UCSF's breast surgery and lymphedema teams. Calabrese earned a bachelor's degree in biology from St. Peter's University, followed by a master's degree in global health and development from University College London. She then earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Columbia University and a doctor of nursing practice degree from the University of San Francisco. Before joining UCSF, she worked as a primary care nurse for the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco; a research nurse at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland; a research coordinator at Hackensack University Medical Center; and a preoperative nurse practitioner for Sutter Health. Outside of work, Calabrese enjoys traveling, hiking, and exploring new Bay Area coffee shops.

She serves on the boards of the Society of Surgical Oncology, International Thyroid Oncology Group, Association for Academic Surgery Foundation and American Thyroid Association, where she is also treasurer.
