Dr. Steven Flores is an Assistant Professor and the Sports Medicine and Shoulder Fellowship Program Director in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery with an additional Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine, Dr. Flores has over 15 years of experience specializing in knee, shoulder, and sports medicine injuries with an emphasis on arthroscopy and minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Flores treats both athletes and non-athletes of all ages who have sustained injuries or are experiencing issues that they feel need evaluation. Dr. Flores served as the Head Team Physician for the Houston Rockets for over ten years and currently is the Head Team Orthopedist for the Houston Texans. He also works closely with numerous schools around the Houston area. Dr. Flores received his undergraduate degree with honors from Texas A&M University. He attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine and completed a general surgery internship and an Orthopedic Surgery residency at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He went on to complete a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Flores is a fellow member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. He is also an active member of the NFL Physicians Society.

His research, teaching and clinical activity have earned Dr. Klineberg an international reputation in spinal deformity surgery. Author of over then 300 publications and book chapters, he also edited Adult Lumbar Scoliosis, A Clinical Guide to Diagnosis and Management and is a principal or co-principal investigator for more than a half-dozen clinical studies. His major research interests are enhancement of spinal fusion with stem cells and proteins and spinal deformity and outcomes. He serves on the board of directors of the Scoliosis Research Society and on the executive committee of the International Spine Study Group. He is also the North American Chair of AO Spine, a global academic community that promotes excellence in education, research, patient care and outcomes.
