I have been practicing pediatrics for over 20 years. I completed medical school and a pediatric residency at the University of Minnesota and spent the first 13 years of my clinical practice in the Minneapolis area. I then taught clinical pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh before moving to North Carolina. I enjoy working with children of all ages. I have been trained in the Positive Parenting Program. My husband is a pediatric rheumatologist at Duke University Medical Center and we have two boys who keep us busy with all their activities.

My research focuses on helping children live their healthiest life possible through nutrition, activity, and engagement in community activities. I have a special interest in patient-centered communication and am passionate to see physicians, patients, and parents communicate with each other to meet their mutual goals.
