
Overview
Terry Dean, MD, PhD, is an attending physician in the Division of Critical Care Medicine at Children's National Hospital. Dr. Dean’s clinical training includes medical school at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, general pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and pediatric critical care medicine fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. Additionally, he attained MS and PhD degrees in Neuroscience, and aims to continue down the career path of the physician scientist. Dr. Dean’s interest in neuroscience has continued to evolve in parallel with his clinical interest in pediatric neurocritical care. After his graduate studies in sleep neuroscience, he performed traumatic brain injury research at UCSF. Now, as a researcher in the laboratory of Vittorio Gallo at Children’s National, he intends to combine his areas of expertise and conduct experiments aimed at elucidating the role of sleep and circadian rhythms on the cellular mechanisms of regeneration after brain injury. Separately, he is also the lead editor of a pediatric board review book and very dedicated to teaching. Publications ORCiD.
