Overview
Thomas M. Bozzuto, DO, is a certified emergency medicine and hyperbaric medicine provider. Some of his specialties include treating chronic non-healing ulcers, chronic refractory osteomyelitis, skin grafts, sudden hearing loss and central retinal artery occlusion. He is the northeast section chair for Geisinger’s Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine.|Dr. Bozzuto was inspired to pursue medicine from an early age. “I had a great role model in our local family physician. I remember him making house calls in his snowmobile when there was too much snow on the road to use his car,” he says.|Originally from Bangor, Pa., Dr. Bozzuto graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. After his residency, he served in the U.S. Air Force in flight medicine at Andrews AFB in Washington D.C., then as associate chair of emergency medicine at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. He received hyperbaric training at the University of Maryland-Baltimore Shock/Trauma Center. Dr. Bozzuto has received multiple awards for excellence in hyperbaric medicine, and serves on the faculty of the international Introductory Course in Hyperbaric Medicine.|In his free time, Dr. Bozzuto enjoys music, theater and travel, as well as spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and two dogs. He has been an adult volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years, and a member since 1960 when he joined as a Cub Scout. Dr. Bozzuto was chosen as a subject matter expert to be on the committee who wrote the examination questions for the subspecialty exam (Certificate of Added Qualification) in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine for the American Osteopathic Board of Preventive Medicine.
