I began my health care career as an exercise physiologist, working with patients to improve their health after they were diagnosed with heart problems. From this role I learned about the physician assistant profession. After becoming a PA I knew that I wanted to continue to help patients with heart issues. I spent my first 6 years as a PA working inpatient at Duke, on the cardiac step-down units and in the cardiac ICU.
