Overview
Dr. Yates specializes in the treatment of pediatric immunodeficiency disorders and childhood allergy in the USF Pediatric Allergy/Immunology Program at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. He joined the faculty at USF and the medical staff at Johns Hopkins All Children’s in 2025. He has specialized training in the treatment and management of disorders of congenital athymia such as 22q11.2 deletion syndrome. He also manages patients with food allergies, asthma, eczema, environmental allergies and drug allergies. Dr. Yates has a particular interest in medical education and has educated medical students, residents and fellows in allergy and immunology with particular focus on immunodeficiency diseases. He has previously served as the director of newborn screening for severe combined immunodeficiency disease (SCID). Dr. Yates has been asked to speak to local, national and international audiences about primary immunodeficiency disease. He is active with the Immune Deficiency Foundation and has been invited to speak to patients and families about navigating life with an immunodeficiency. Dr. Yates earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine before completing his pediatric residency at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. He received training in allergy and immunology from Duke University Medical Center.
