"Dr. Vasanthi Gomathinayagam is a board-certified neurologist with a particular interest in Parkinson’s disease, atypical parkinsonisms, deep brain stimulator programming, tremors, botulinum toxin injections and memory disorders. Dr. Gomathinayagam is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society and is certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Society. During her fellowship, she developed extensive training in treating patients with neurodegenerative conditions with advanced therapeutics including familiarity with the newest medication as well as surgical treatments. Her medical training at Georgetown helped shape her practice philosophy in caring for patients with ""cura personalis,"" translated to caring for the whole person. Dr. Gomathinayagam is dedicated to providing a multi-modal approach to treating patients and involving the patient, family and caretakers in establishing a treatment plan. Even in certain neurodegenerative conditions where a cure is not yet available, she is committed to being a strong patient advocate and offering treatment options to improve quality of life. Outside of work, Dr. Gomathinayagam enjoys traveling and exploring new cities with her loved ones and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.".
