Overview
Veena Venkat, MD, is a gastroenterologist at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and an associate professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. In addition, she has collaborated on studies of primary sclerosing cholangitis, Alagille syndrome, alpha-one antitrypsin deficiency and PFIC. Her work with the liver transplant program has included involvement in the Immunosuppression Withdrawal for Stable Pediatric Liver Transplant Recipients trial, with a focus on long-term graft health, safety outcomes, and reversibility of rejection during immunosuppression withdrawal. She is a member of the North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease, and the American Society of Transplantation.
