Vivian T. Uzonwune, NP

Vivian Uzonwune, CRNP, is a nurse practitioner specializing in behavioral health. She treats adults for a wide variety of mental health conditions, including major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, ADHD and personality disorders. She also conducts thorough psychiatric evaluations, develops individualized treatment plans, prescribes and helps manage medications and provides supportive therapy and education. She has a clinical interest in trauma informed care.|“My approach is holistic, trauma-based and patient-centered, often involving coordination with primary care providers, therapists and community support systems,” she notes. “I also place a strong emphasis on building therapeutic rapport, enhancing treatment adherence and fostering a collaborative care environment. In my role, I routinely assess risk factors such as suicidality, self-harm, substance misuse and psychosis and implement appropriate safety planning.”|Ms. Uzonwune earned her Doctor of Nursing degree from Wilmington University in Delaware.|She notes that seeing improvements in her patients’ quality of life from the care she delivers brings her joy.|“Early in my career, I worked in a nursing home as a caregiver, and I saw patients with dementia, depression and anxiety,” she says. “I felt the need to go into the mental health field and that was how the journey started.”|Originally from Nigeria, Ms. Ozonwune moved to the U.S. in 2005. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her husband and children.
